Español Uno (1):
Today’s Agenda:
1. Practice our letters of the alphabet, spelling unknown words.
--D-I-S-F-R-A-Z
--G-A-LL-I-N-A
--C-O-CH-E-C-I-T-O
--G-U-I-J-A-RR-O-S
--P-A-R-Q-U-Í-M-E-T-R-O
2. Listen to our song of the week: “Si tengo miedo.” Nice job catching the next four missing phrases: te quiero, nuestra, llevo, nuestro.
3. Practice our gestures. Practice the gestures in order for our new “irregular yo” song. This song helps you learn some important irregulars in the present tense. It will also help you in Spanish 2 with commands, and in Spanish 3 with a verb tense called the subjunctive…hence, it’s REALLY important!
“Me caigo, conozco, digo, doy…hago, pongo, salgo, soy…tengo, traigo, vengo, veo…oigo, sigo, sé, voy, estoy.”
4. Discuss circumlocution (describing a word in a roundabout way when you can’t come up with the specific word). We naturally use circumlocution in English when we forget a term. This skill is even more important for us in Spanish, as we won’t always have the specific vocabulary we need, but we should still be able to get across the meaning.
Class example: el refrigerador
--Es un lugar donde hay comida fría.
--Es un aparato que está en la cocina.
--Es donde la gente pone la comida y la leche.
Practice circumlocuting some of our ch. 8 vocabulary.
5. Begin the homework.
Homework: 8-3 & 8-4 (evens translated)
