Announcement: Profe K. is subbing today while I am at a conference. You are SO lucky to have a great Spanish-speaking substitute!

Today’s Learning Objectives:

1. Discuss weekend plans, by answering the question “¿Qué vas a hacer este fin?”

2. Listen to and sing the song of the week: “La historia de Juan.”

3. Practice our vocabulary gestures.

4. Together with your table groups, read through the story “¿Estás enfermo, Cacahuate?”

5. Illustrate six scenes from the story as Profe K. reads aloud:

--Había un muchacho que se llamaba Cacahuate. No le gustaba ir a las clases.
--Un día le dijo a su mamá que estaba enfermo. Quería estar en casa todo el día.
--La madre de Cacahuate era inteligente y sabía que no estaba enfermo.
--La madre le dijo que tuvo que ayudarla en casa.
--Cacahuate tuvo que hacer los quehaceres. Limpió el suelo. Hizo las camas. Sacudió los muebles.
--Después de unas horas Cacahuate tenía sueño. Decidió ir a la escuela.

6. (1st hour only): Practice saying the story aloud with a partner.

Homework: (Due Monday): Dice Game for Reflexive Verbs (present tense)
(Due Wednesday): Read “¿Estás enfermo, Cacahuate?” to an adult and get a signature.

4. Practice saying yesterday’s story (“El día terrible de la curandera”) to a partner.

5. Listen as some students share their version of the story for the class.

6. Practice por/para alone or with your table group. Review por/para answers with the class.

Homework: (Due Monday): Read “El día terrible de la curandera” to an adult and get a signature.
