2. Practice our spelling. We know that the vowels (a, e, i, o, u) have very regular sounds in Spanish. We also know that to write the "rolled r" sound, we use "rr" in the middle of a word, and just "r" at the beginning or end of a word.

1. Do our "para empezar" ("in order to begin") activity. Based on our dictation on our first test, it's apparent that some of us are making spelling in Spanish more difficult that it needs to be. We're going to practice spelling unknown words in Spanish. Based upon our vowel sounds--a, e, i, o, u--how would the following unknown words be spelled?
**Don't worry yet about knowing when and where to place accent marks in unknown words. We'll learn accent rules later in the year.

3. Create a story together as a class, using two new important phrases: 1) iban a (they were going to), no podían (they couldn't).
(4a hora): Había dos muchachos. Se llamaban Thor y Guadalupe. Thor y Guadalupe estaban en Candylandia. Iban a visitar a la reina (queen). La reina era Megan. La reina estaba en Candylandia en el guardarropa. Thor y Guadalupe no sabían dónde encontrar a la reina (queen). Así que anduvieron a Trenton. Iban a preguntarle a Trenton, pero había un problema. No podían hablar. Así que le preguntaron a Trenton con las manos. Pero Trenton no entendía. Así que Thor y Guadalupe fueron a hablar con Catalina. Thor y Guadalupe le preguntaron a Catalina dónde estaba la reina (queen). Catalina entendía, pero Catalina era reina mala, así que les dijo que la reina (queen) estaba afuera (outside). Estefan y PeeWee no podían ver. Estefan estaba manejando un coche, ¡y no podía ver! ¡Qué loco! Esteban estaba manejando rápido y chocó con (he crashed into) la casa de MJ. Chocó con (He crashed into) MJ. MJ lloró mucho. No podía enseñarles a bailar a Estefan ni PeeWee. Estefan y PeeWee se pusieron muy enojados. El fin.
