Español Uno (1):

Today’s Learning Objectives:

1. Tackle a fourth reading research piece for me. I am SO impressed with your reading comprehension skills! You will receive your readings and the answers tomorrow. Thank you for being so thoughtful and complete with your answers.

2. Listen to our new song of the week: “Si tengo miedo” by Fey. Nice job catching the first three missing words: sé, mar, encontrar. Quick grammar tangent reviewing “” (“I know”—information/how to) and “conozco” (“I’m acquainted with / I know”—a person, a place/book.)

3. (1st period only): Finish reviewing 8-2.
(2nd period only): Review 8-1 & 8-2.

4. Practice our chapter 8 gestures, and establish new gestures for: corta el césped, se corta el pelo, conduce el coche, recoge las cosas del suelo, & el cuadro.

5. Begin the homework.

Homework: 8-3 in the workbook (everything additionally translated)

Español Dos (2):

Today’s Learning Objectives:

1. Practice communicating “is…ing” in Spanish. There are TWO ways! To communicate what is happening right now, you can use the present tense OR the present progressive.

Forming the present progressive is very easy.
(estoy/estás/está/estamos/están) + (-ando / -iendo)

estoy hablando = I am talking
estás andando = you are walking
está comiendo = he is eating
estamos gritando = we are shouting
están bebiendo = they/y’all are drinking

-AR verbs use –ando.
-ER/IR verbs use –iendo.

**-IR sandal verbs have a spelling change (o-->u) or (e-->i).

Escriban las dos formas de estas frases:
--Juan is reviewing the problem.
--The student council is delivering the yearbooks.
--Are you wearing a tie?
--The soccer player is scoring a goal.
--Are you lying?
--Is he turning 80?
--I am turning on the heater.
--The car is following the truck.

Las respuestas correctas.

4. With a partner, read the story “La vida sin crema de afeitar.” Illustrate each paragraph into a six-frame illustration. We will review the story tomorrow.

Homework: If you didn’t finish reading & illustrating the story in class, do so at home.
