miércoles, el veinticinco de febrero del dos mil nueve

Español Uno (1):

Today’s Learning Objectives:

1. Profe Nick wants to say “thank you” for working so diligently on the research readings I ask you to complete periodically. Also, as it is my birthday this week, I want to share with you the Spanish tradition of how birthdays are celebrated. In Spain it is the birthday boy/girl’s responsibility to throw the party! That's a bit reversed from what we’re used to here in the U.S. Enjoy the clementines and coffee cake breakfast as a “thank you” from me, the birthday girl!

2. Receive yesterday's research reading. Nice job! Quick review of the story in class.

3. Listen to our song of the week: “Geografía.” Good job catching the next two missing words: encantaría, noche. Quick grammar tangents included: 1) “digo” as “I say.” 2) “-ría” as “would”

DECIR (to say) (e-->i) ...obviously "decir" is irregular
digo……………decimos
dices
dice……………dicen

me gustaría (I would like)
me encantaría (I would love)
andaría (I would walk)
comería (I would eat)
hablaría (I would talk)….etc.

4. Partner speaking practice using yesterday’s illustrations (done for homework). We will continue with this tomorrow.

Homework: None.

We will be learning more about commands in chapter 7, including a fun little song for the irregulars "Ten, ven, pon, sal, di, sé, ve, haz."

3. Complete a practice partner quiz on various present tense verbs with special changes:
--"-cir/-cer" (conocer, conducir, traducir)

--"-ger/-gir" (escoger, exigir, corregir) ...use a j in the yo form
--specially accented verbs in the boot (esquiar, enviar, reunirse)
