lunes, el cinco de enero del dos mil nueve

¡Próspero Año Nuevo! (Prosperous New Year!)
¡Feliz Navidad! (Merry Christmas!)
¡Feliz Januká! (Happy Hannukah!)

Welcome back. I saw so many beaming faces today, especially at the end of class. Isn’t it exciting to take three weeks off and walk back into a class all in Spanish, following along perfectly? It feels like we haven’t been gone a day!

Español Uno (1):

Announcements:

1. Due to the snow days, the final exam schedule (currently scheduled as Wed, Jan. 21st, Thur., Jan. 22nd & Fri., Jan. 23rd) may or may not change. Stay tuned. Hopefully we will have more clarity in the next couple days.

2. I am offering you a significant opportunity in regards to your final exam. This opportunity has been motivated by all of you who have worked very hard to significantly raise your skill level since the beginning of the year. Due to the comprehensive nature of your exams, I feel very comfortable letting your final exam score supersede your class average (assuming you perform better than your average). If you perform worse on the final exam than your class average going into the test, I will treat the final exam as it would have ordinarily been treated (10% of your grade). SEIZE THIS OPPORTUNITY!

Today’s Learning Objectives:

1. Read in Spanish for nine minutes during SSR.

2. Discuss what we did over the break.

3. (1st period only): Read cultural note about the song “Ocho Kandelikas,” which we will listen to and sing tomorrow.

Homework: None.

Español Dos (2):
