martes, el trece de enero del dos mil ocho

Español Uno (1):

Today’s Learning Objectives:

1. With a partner, practice pronouncing new words in Spanish, using two pieces of information that we’ve internalized: 1) all infinitives have the natural stress on the last sound/syllable, 2) all words with an accent mark need to be stressed exactly where the accent mark is written.

--distanciar
--turística
--helicóptero
--abandonar
--agarrándola
--rápidamente
--contemplar
--pérdida
--sintetizar
--ayúdame

2. Sing our newest song: “La familia tradicional

3. Homework check and review of workbook pages.

4. Learn new chapter 5 gestures (bold words on pink packet).

5. Receive a sample picture sequence for creating an original story. As a class, think through how you could tell an original story.

Keep in mind the following:
--we will practice more in class on Wednesday
--you will have two similar, upcoming speaking assessments with me (one on Thur./Fri. & one during finals)
--you will have only one minute to speak with me
--you need to speak only in Spanish
--it doesn’t matter whether you finish the story, just as long as you spend your minute speaking
--there are an infinite number of valid interpretations for each picture, so don’t worry about trying to get the plot “right”
--adding details (name, age, where, personality traits, physical traits, etc.) is a good idea
--if you get stuck on a specific word, either move on or choose a different word
X--example: rename “present” as the actual present (“book,” “music,” “dog”)
X--example: reword “runs” as “walks fast”
X --example: rename “church” as “St. Anthony’s”
X--example: reword “angry” as “not happy”

Homework: If you have any missing work, get it done. Remember, you can only take advantage of the special final exam offer if you have no missing work.
