Announcement: Periods 1 & 2 had very different schedules today, so they are listed separately.
Today’s Agenda (1st period):
1. Finish Friday’s dictation.
2. Review what we know about –ar verbs in the present and preterite (“-ed”). Discuss the special spelling change with –car, –gar, –zar verbs.
–CAR (tocar, sacar, practicar)
–GAR (jugar, pagar, apagar)
–ZAR (empezar)
There is a special spelling change in the yo form only. The spelling change for –CAR & –GAR verbs is very logical, and it helps us keep the sound consistent.
–CAR (“-qué”)…(tocé-->toqué, sacé-->saqué, practicé-->practiqué)
–GAR (“-gué”)…(jugé-->jugué, pagé-->pagué, apagé-->apagué)
–ZAR (“-cé”)…(empezé-->empecé)
3. Learn gestures for an episode of “¡Go, Diego, Go!”
4. Watch the “Ranas arbolícolas de ojos rojos” episode of “¡Go, Diego, Go!”
Homework: 7-5 & 7-6 in the workbook. Careful! The verbs are in the present, not the preterite.
