jueves, el veintisiete de mayo del dos mil diez

Español Uno (1) y Dos (2):

Announcement 1: I am going to so miss teaching all of you! You have been a wonderful group of students. I promise to email pictures when the baby arrives. Please know that the best going away gift you can give me is to do good work for Profe Gaynor.

Announcement 2: Find your Paso a paso text and have it ready for class with Profe Gaynor. Keep in mind that you will need to return it at the end of the school year. If it’s not returned, a fine of $60+ will be attached to your name. Yikes!

Announcement 3: If you have turned in assignments that still aren’t in the gradebook, they should be entered later today & tomorrow.

Announcement 4
: Profe Gaynor will be entering two big grades (though there could be others at her discretion). The first grade will be a 45-point assignment grade for nine days of class work. If you consistently come prepared to class, use your class time well and follow all expectations, you will likely end up with 45/45. Any daily deductions are completely at Profe Gaynor’s discretion. The second big grade will be your final exam (10% of your semester grade).

Today’s Agenda:

1. Listen to yesterday’s circumlocution phrases written in class.

2. Practice our final chapter gestures.

3. Discuss some continuing expectations that Profe Gaynor will have as she takes over next Tuesday. She & I have found that we have very similar expectations! Assume that all current expectations will stay the same, including:

--backpacks at the back of the room!
--all students seated & ready to listen when the class begins at the bell.
--no packing up early nor hovering near the door toward the end of class.
--no cell phones nor iPods.
--SSR books returned as they were found. Treat them kindly! They belong to Profe Nick.
--desks in rows for any assessments.
--bathroom requests not excessive. 1-2 students/period leaving is normal…4+ is NOT normal!
--positive words & interactions with all others! (Quickly making amends when something careless is said.)
--consistent, on-task behavior.

4. Prepare some name plates for Profe Gaynor, so she can know your names! Keep in mind that she will have 160 new faces, so she will need the help of those name plates to call on you. Keep them out each day for her, please.

5. Prepare some welcome posters for Profe Gaynor so she can get to know a bit about each class’s personality.

6. Enjoy each other’s company with some good food & music.

Enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend!
