lunes, el dieciséis de noviembre del dos mil nueve

Español Uno (1):

Today’s Agenda:

1. Read, in Spanish, for eight minutes during SSR.

2. Answer our fundamental question “¿Qué hiciste durante el fin de semana?

Grammar tangent: What’s the difference between “cocino” & “cocinó”? [I cook, I’m cooking / s/he cooked]

patino / patinó…..[I skate, I’m skating / s/he skated]
ayudo / ayudó…..[I help, I’m helping / s/he helped]

**ONE little difference (in this case, an accent mark) can make the difference between who & when!!!

3. Practice our new chapter three gestures and establish gestures for:

--las estaciones
--por la mañana
--por la tarde
--por la noche
--hoy no
--todos los días
--después de las clases

4. Review 3-1 & 3-2 in the workbook.

5. Begin the homework.

Homework: 3-3 & 3-4 in the workbook (with evens translated, as always)

Español Dos (2):

Today’s Agenda:

1. Read, in Spanish, for ten minutes during SSR.

2. Answer our fundamental question: “¿Qué hiciste durante el fin de semana?

3. Receive Friday’s written retell of the story “Ralph, el desordenado.” Profe Nick edited for five common mistakes in your writing. If you have no notation on your page, you avoided all four of the common mistakes I was looking for. Nice job. If you made some mistakes, that’s to be expected at this point, though I expect that we have major improvement with each writing!

Five common Spanish 2 mistakes in semester one:

--resorting to English, instead of working around the word
--verb missing (often at this stage a helping verb—“wanted, needed, was going to, liked to”)
--“speaking in infinitives” (saying "Mike to play basketball," instead of "Mike played basketball.")
--using the wrong verb form (saying "She I go to the game," instead of "She goes to the game.")
--using an apostrophe “s” (remember, there are NO apostrophes in Spanish!)

4. Finish defining our new chapter three vocabulary.

5. Establish some new gestures.

6. Begin to work on the homework.

Homework: 3-1 & 3-2 in the workbook (evens translated).
