Announcement: Your upcoming cumulative exam (Monday, Nov. 29th & Tuesday, Nov. 30th) will have seven separate grades:
--1) culture – maps one & two
--2) reading – comprehension ?’s for a story
--3) listening – spelling unknown words, song excerpt, ?’s from a story read aloud
--4) vocabulary – cumulative, but emphasis on ch. 3 words for production
--5) grammar – cumulative – with a significant focus on irregular preterite verbs from our blue packet
--6) speaking – one minute story in the past told aloud to Profe Nick using the pictures provided --7) writing – 100+ word story in the past.
Today’s Agenda:
1. Practice our preterite verbs:

Announcement: Remember, you need to be much more independently responsible for learning this chapter’s vocabulary. We will not have as many days to spend on it as we do with most other chapters.

6. Practice writing a story in the past using illustrations provided by Profe Nick. This practice writing will be mock graded to give you a good idea of how you would have done on the upcoming writing assessment, had it been for a real grade.

martes, el dieciséis de noviembre del dos mil diez
1. Quickly see if we can recall the countries & capitals from map #1. Remember that on our next cumulative exam (Monday, November 29th & Tuesday, November 30th), you will be accountable for maps 1 & 2.
2. Fill in more on our new blue verb packet. Today we filled in the sections for “-CAR, -GAR, -ZAR” verbs, as well as the definitions of our 17 irregular verbs.
3. Receive our new song of the week: “Tu amor.” Nice job catching the first three missing phrases: había, antes de, sed.
4. Establish some new gestures for ch. 3.
5. Quick check for homework completion, as well as submission of the signed story (“Ralph”) and our original illustrations from a few weeks ago. We’ll use your illustrations to practice telling stories.
Homework: Study your ch. 3 vocabulary! You need to be even more independent with the vocabulary for this chapter, as we will be spending a little less time on it, and need to dedicate more class time to some of our other essential skills (like practicing telling stories).

1. Take a Ch. 2 dictation & decipher the meanings of the sentences with partners.
--Había un niño que nunca podía encontrar nada.
--Un día, hubo un terremoto y él tuvo que salir de casa.
--Así que anduvo a la estación de policía y chilló “¡Socorro!”
2. Practice retelling the story of “Ralph” with a new partner, one last time.
3. Practice writing the story of “Ralph,” being sure to use as many high-frequency verbs as possible, as well as attempting to throw in some “impress me” details.
4. Go over the pink packet definitions (if there was any confusion).
Homework: Read the story of "Ralph" to an adult in ENGLISH for Monday. Remember, you need to read the story in English to show that you actually understand the meaning of the words in Spanish.

1. Draw six scenes from the story of Ralph:
--Había un estudiante que se llamaba Ralph, y un día él se despertó tarde.
--Cuando Ralph vio el reloj, se puso muy nervioso. Ya eran las siete y cuarto de la mañana y él iba a llegar tarde a las clases.
--Ralph tenía miedo porque no le gustaba llegar tarde. A Ralph le encantaban sus clases.
--Ralph era muy desordenado. Nunca podía encontrar nada.
--Esta mañana no era distinta. No podía encontrar sus zapatos, su teléfono celular, su dinero ni sus pantalones.
--De repente Ralph oyó “bip…bip…bip…bip….” Se despertó y miró el reloj. Eran las seis de la mañana. ¡Qué alivio!
