1. Practice pronouncing unknown words in Spanish. Great job! If you could correctly pronounce these words, your brain subconsciously understands accent rules in Spanish. We'll learn the explicit accent rules this year, but keep trusting your gut instinct for now!

Homework: For Wednesday, read the story in Friday’s reading quiz to an adult in ENGLISH! Remember, you’re reading in English to have to really think through the meaning of the words. Sometimes it’s easy to just pronounce the Spanish without understanding the meaning!

Announcements: By looking at Skyward, you can see that we have some upcoming quizzes and assignments already posted. There is an upcoming grammar quiz, listening quiz, and two different reading quizzes. There is also a Ch. 1 dictation, Ch. 1 writing questions and Ch. 1 flashcards that will all be going into the gradebook in the next couple weeks.
1. Receive our blue, present tense verb packet. If you received one last year, I’d still like you to recopy your verbs into the new packet; it’s good practice! We’ll be adding a LOT to this packet, more than what was covered in Spanish 1.
2. Listen to our song of the week: “Te extraño.” Nice job catching the last three missing phrases: te quiero, te amo, ese.
3. Finish establishing our new Ch. 1 gestures.
4. Tackle a quick vocabulary worksheet in table groups.
5. Begin the homework.
Homework: For tomorrow, illustrate your weekend plans (even if you have to make them up). Be ready to possibly have your illustrations picked for our conversation. For Monday, have your Ch. 1 flashcards finished.

3. Define the non-gesture words in our new pink packet vocabulary, as well as the first eight gesture words.
4. Practice our eight new Ch. 1 gestures.
5. In small groups, tackle the reading “Estoy inquieta.” This is a practice reading to get you used to this type of reading assessment, which assesses your ability to understand new words based upon context or linguistic cues.
Homework: For tomorrow, finish the reading “Estoy inquieta.” For Monday, finish your Ch. 1 flashcards.

Today we reviewed the question “¿Adónde fuiste?” and forms of ir in the preterite (fui, fuiste, fue, fuimos, fueron), as well as defined a new question “¿Dónde estabas?” and filled out the forms of estar in the imperfect (estaba, estabas, estaba, estábamos, estaban).

d. Play the “Verb Race” game with a group of 2-4.
Homework: Have your flashcards ready to go for tomorrow. You need to have the English on the reverse of all words we’ve already defined in our pink packet. Study for your Ch. 0 verb quiz!

1. Go to the library to pick up our hardcover Paso a paso texts. All IHS books need to be covered; using a brown paper bag as a book cover is fine. You may keep your texts at home or in your locker, and only bring them to class when requested. If you were absent today, you’ll need to get a text on your own time between classes or before/after school.
2. Take a practice verb quiz. This practice quiz is identical in format to what you will see on Friday.
3. Begin/continue to make flashcards for our Ch. 0 verbs & vocabulary.
Homework: Finish your practice quiz for tomorrow. Tomorrow you’ll receive an answer key to check your work. Finish your flashcards for Friday (not Thursday). Write the English on the back of all the already defined vocabulary.

2. Discuss what we did over the weekend, in Spanish. Take a quick listening quiz on what others shared. If you were absent today, this cannot be made up, and goes as "excused" in the gradebook.
3. Quick discussion about why we listen to songs of the week, and how we're assessed on them. Listen to our first song of the week: "No más de ti.” Nice job catching the first three missing phrases: sólo, otra vez, tengo que.

2. Review some of our important reading vocabulary (siempre, nunca, casi, a veces) by answering some personalized questions.
3. Read the first short story on page 3 of the pink packet to review/figure out some important story-building vocabulary.
4. Receive our flashcards (ahead of schedule) for those who want to start creating them this weekend. It's NOT homework to begin, though it's a great idea.
Homework: Come to class on Tuesday with your signed syllabus, binder, notecards and Ziplock bag/metal ring.

There are two upcoming quizzes on our review chapter material. On Friday (10th) we will have a quiz on our review chapter verbs. Be able to correctly write out the verbs. On Friday (17th) we will have a quiz on the review chapter vocabulary.
Today's Agenda:
1. Review page two of the syllabus (grading/tests/quizzes) and page four of the syllabus. Be sure to get page four signed for next Tuesday.
2. Finish filling out page two of the ch. 0 (review chapter) "pink packet." We finished filling out regular preterite endings, four irregular preterite verbs (ir, ver, hacer, decir), and helping verbs.
3. Practice conjugating some regular present & preterite verbs in partner groups.
4. Review some of Spanish 1's "basic questions." ("How are you?" "What is your name?" etc.)
5. (5th & 6th periods) See if Profe Nick already knows your names. I think I do!
Homework: Come prepared to class on Tuesday with your class binder, notecards and Ziplock bag/metal ring for the flashcards. Also, be sure to get the last page of the syllabus signed.

1. Review yesterday's homework (questions about the class blog).
Most significantly, remember that:
--no late credit is given for daily assignments
--the lowest "passing" grade is 63% (62% is an F)
--quarter/semester grades do round up!
--I won't be able to stay for after school help sessions this year
2. Talk about page one of the syllabus (what kinds of activities to expect in class, classroom rules, academic integrity, etc.)
3. Begin to fill out our ch. 0 (review chapter) "pink packet." We will spend a couple weeks on the review chapter. If you feel like much of the information is new or fuzzy, you will need to put in extra studying immediately! We have students from seven different teachers, and we all need to be on the same page within a couple weeks.
Homework: (Due Monday) Come prepared to class with a binder (1" or larger), a stack of index cards and a Ziplock bag/metal ring to keep them organized.
